Indeed, the Air Force has long evolved in an atmosphere of post-colonial domestic operations. The French army was alone engaged. The Cold War context meant that there were few international operations apart from European training missions.

The collapse of the Soviet world was unfortunately going to release many hot spots and the Air Force, very often engaged, became the French Air Force for many allied countries.

THE JAGUAR

Created by a Franco-English consortium, the JAGUAR was mainly used by the French Air Force and the Royal Air Force. A twin-engine bomber, the JAGUAR has been involved in all of France’s external operations in Africa, the Balkans and the Middle East, particularly during the Gulf War.
