The concorde, built by the French and the English, was the first supersonic airliner. It was operated by British Airways and Air France. Its commercial career was a failure, as the aircraft encountered strong opposition from U.S. airports, which imposed severe operating constraints.

A terrible accident killing all the passengers and crew on takeoff from Roissy Charles de Gaule. This triggered the process that ended the operation of this magnificent technological success in France, with British Airways and Air France announcing the end of operations in October 2003 after EADS announced that they were giving up maintenance of the aircraft.
